Orphan teaser trailer and Poster

I am looking at the film Orphan because this is a horror and also is a psychological one.

Genre: From the trailer you can see that the film is a psychological horror that is different because the audience have no idea what is wrong with this girl. There is also an element of thriller because there are many jumpy scenes. This is quite similar to the genre we would like to use for our own teaser trailer.

Narrative: It shows a normal family living everyday life but have recently lost there baby, the family decide that they would like to adopt instead of try for another baby, they choose to adopt an older child and when they get to the adoption place they find a girl who is very different from the rest of the girls there, she is old fashioned and very mature for her age. They take her home to meet the family and then they start to find out there is something wrong with this girl as she starts doing odd things and trying to scare the children, we see her setting fire to a treehouse with the boy in it and pushing a girl of the playground slide and pushing a young girl in front of the car, there is obviously a big secret she is hiding but this is not clear to the audience at all in the trailer, the narrative of the trailer is then left on a cliffhanger.

This teaser poster has a very interesting tag line, there's something wrong with esther, this is very interesting combined with the image, which is the girl looking emotionless with light coming from above her shadowing certain parts of her face, we can see from this picture she is very old fashioned. All this combined witht he title Orphan is very creepy, the text is typical for the horror genre, with the scratchy lines. This poster is very simple but very effective in a way that this character has alot of mystery behind her. The text is also similar to the Uninvited title text which shows that they are quite similar as they are from the same sub genre psychogical horror.
